HOSPITALS
688. Hon SALLY TALBOT to the minister
representing the Minister for Health:
(1) Can the minister
confirm that many surgical procedures previously performed at Collie Hospital
are now instead performed at Bunbury Hospital?
(2) If yes to (l) —
(a) which
types of surgery have been moved to Bunbury and what is the reason for this
change;
(b) what new
mechanisms has the state government put in place to assist patients and their
families from the Collie region with higher travel and accommodation costs; and
(c) have these changes extended
waiting times at Bunbury Hospital?

I am advised —
(1) One surgical procedure type has been moved from Collie
Hospital to Bunbury.
(2) (a) Tonsillectomies
were previously undertaken at Collie Hospital and are now being performed at
Bunbury Hospital.
(b) Patients
will be eligible for patient assisted travel scheme assistance if they meet the
criteria.
(c) No.
