261. Hon AMBER-JADE SANDERSON to the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Health:
I refer to the $9 million CyberKnife
radiotherapy machine.
(1) On what date
was the machine purchased by the WA government?
(2) Has the
machine been installed at the Cancer Centre at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital
yet; and, if so, what was the installation date?
(3) When did staff receive training
in the operation of the machine?
(4) How many patients, if any, have received CyberKnife
treatment in Western Australia to date?
(5) If it is not already operational, when will CyberKnife
become operational?

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
question.
(1) In January 2013.
(2) The
installation of the CyberKnife machine commenced on 18 January 2014 and is to
be functional and completed in April 2014.
(3) Staff
commenced training in November 2013. This is an ongoing process of training
doctors, other clinical staff and physicists.
(4) Nil. Four patients are scheduled for this procedure in
April 2014 when clinical service commences.
(5) In April 2014.
