The funding in the 2007-2008 Budget Papers relates to the proposed redevelopment work to be undertaken at Kalamunda Hospital. Upgrades will occur in stages, with individual projects to be undertaken following approval of a business case.
The first business case seeking $3.205M is currently being considered by Government and a decision is expected shortly.  This business case covers the expenditure for the financial years 2007/08 to 2009/10, with funding to be used to upgrade the existing operating theatre to create a combined Endoscopy/Minor Procedures room, an equipment/instrument processing room, a recovery area and a day unit. Detailed design for the project will be completed once the business case is approved, with the current completion date in 2009/10.
The use of the remaining $12.139M is dependent on the outcome of detailed clinical service planning for NMAHS as a whole and more specifically for the Swan Kalamunda area. The allocation against each year may change depending on the timing for each specific project.
