I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The following answer is provided on behalf of the
Minister for Health.
(1) Following the
announcement of the relocation of King Edward Memorial Hospital in April 2019;
the Department of Health, the North
Metropolitan Health Service and the Women and Newborn Health Service were requested to investigate a solution to divest the KEMH site and find a definitive
owner to protect and secure the future of
Harvey House and the rose garden. The Department of Planning, Lands and
Heritage advised that the fastest solution was for DOH to offer a licence
to a not-for-profit group. The WA Medical Museum Board, the current custodians
of Harvey House, was identified and agreed to enter into a licence to manage
Harvey House and the rose garden.
(2) Yes.
