In relation to the absence of dedicated building funding for Mount Lawley Senior High School (MLSHS) in the 2012–2013 State Budget, I ask:
(a) is the Minister aware that for the majority of students within the electorate of Perth (which does not have a senior high school) MLSHS is the allocated school for this catchment area;
(b) why does the Barnett Government State Budget not allocate a line item for funding for MLSHS, as it does for Willetton Senior High School;
(c) in readiness for Year 7s from my electorate attending MLSHS in 2015, how much funding will the Minister allocate for new buildings at the school, including badly needed music facilities; and
(d) will the Minister please table exact costings, timelines and specifications for new buildings at MLSH?

(a)  I am advised by the Department of Education that Mount Lawley Senior High School is the local intake school for 51 per cent of public secondary students currently residing in the electorate of Perth.
(b)  The funding identified as a separate line item under 'New Works' for Willetton Senior High School relates to Stage 1 of that school's redevelopment program.
Mount Lawley Senior High School has already had a school redevelopment program, which was completed in 2006 at a cost of $40m.
(c)  Mount Lawley Senior High School was one of the 29 secondary schools identified in my media statement dated 21 May 2012 as receiving part of the $265m for capital works for Year 7 students.
The music facilities at Mount Lawley Senior High School are consistent with the current brief for senior high schools.
(d)  The Department is currently conducting planning audits and meetings with schools to confirm the requirements for Year 7 students.  Once this process has been completed, the details regarding the timelines, specifications and costings for construction at each of the 29 schools will be made available.  This will include the details of the Year 7 building program at Mount Lawley Senior High School.
