I am trying to think who advised me. I think at the time we
had discussions; I cannot remember one person advising me. I cannot remember
that. I made the decision. As I said before, we had potential savings, I
discussed it with the Premier, and it made logical sense. I just make the point
that the compensation bid by Perth Glory —
Several members interjected.
Mr T.K. WALDRON : I
think I have a fair idea! The compensation bid lodged by Perth Glory —
Mr D.J. Kelly interjected.
The SPEAKER :
Member for Bassendean, I call you to order for the first time.
Mr T.K. WALDRON :
The compensation claim was lodged and we came to what I think was a fair and
equitable payment of $400 000. Either that $400 000 had to come out of the
budget or I had to get it from somewhere else. It seemed logical to me that we
had been efficient in keeping the time span of the building of nib so we
affected only one sport. It could have affected two sports. I actually think we
have saved money by the way we have managed the project.
