I refer to my questions on notice No. 5577 and No. 5818, and I ask —
(1) In relation to equivalent 2011 qualifications available for students undertaking Certificate I level qualifications in 2010, can the Minister clarify how the 2010 Certificate I in Customer Service is equivalent to the 2011 —
(a) Course in School Apprenticeship Link in Hairdressing; or
(b) Certificate II in Hairdressing?
(2) Why were the required Student Contact Hours for the Advanced Diploma of Interior Design significantly reduced from 2,088 hours in 2010 to 630 hours in 2011 as part of the process of continuous course review?

(1)(a) Certificate I in Customer Service is not equivalent to the School Apprenticeship Link in Hairdressing course.
(1)(b) Certificate I in Customer Service is not equivalent to Certificate II in Hairdressing.
(2) 90351NSW Advanced Diploma of Interior Design was developed and accredited by TAFE NSW. Course hours were allocated by TAFE NSW.
In 2011, this course was replaced by three national training package qualifications at Certificate level IV, Diploma and Advanced Diploma. Each of these qualifications has its own student contact hours, with the SCH for the 3 one-year courses from 2011 onwards totalling 1893 SCH. This is only a minor reduction in hours from 2010 and is due to a reduction in the number of units required for completion.
Course 52045 Advanced Diploma of Interior Design was developed and accredited by Central Institute of Technology (formerly Central TAFE) but is not equivalent to 90351NSW. Course hours were allocated by Central TAFE.
Hours for accredited courses are allocated by the developer/owner of the course during the accreditation process.
