I refer to vacant positions in the South West police district, and I ask: (a) as at 1 March 2014 and 1 March 2015, how many full time equivalent (FTE) police officer and FTE police auxiliary officer positions allocated to the South West police district were vacant; and (b) as at 1 October 2015, how many FTE police officer and FTE police auxiliary officer positions in the South West police district were vacant, and for each: (i) how long had the position been vacant; (ii) how many of the positions remain vacant at the time of providing the answer; and (iii) how many FTE police officer and FTE auxiliary officer positions are vacant as of the date of providing the answer?

a) The response required for this question would take a significant amount of time and resources to collate and process. It is therefore not possible for Police to obtain this information without significantly compromising other core policing activities.
b) Two police officer positions were vacant and there were no vacant police auxiliary officer positions. Both police officer positions have subsequently been filled.
(i) One position had been vacant since 31 July 2015 and the other since 11 September 2015.
(ii) Nil
(iii) Two police officer positions which became vacant after 1 October 2015 are currently vacant as of this date, both awaiting the arrival of officers on transfer to fill them. There are no vacant police auxiliary officer positions.
