With regard to the proposed undergrounding of power in Port Hedland, and with reference to supplementary information 25 from the 2004 estimates hearings and the answer to a question without notice asked on Tuesday night, what percentage of the 50 per cent contribution to costs from the Town of Port Hedland will be contributions from local residents, BHP Billiton Ltd and the Department of Housing and Works? Hon KIM CHANCE

I was sure I recognised the last part of that question, and I said to myself, “He’s not going to like this answer.” Then I realised that I had to give it. I thank Hon Robin Chapple for some notice of the question. It is up to the shire, at its discretion, to work out the money mix and payment plan for local residents and to liaise with BHP and the Department of Housing and Works to work out their contribution. I am sorry that I cannot be more helpful, but it is for the shire, at its discretion, to determine that.
