PFAS CONTAMINATION —
FORRESTFIELD–AIRPORT LINK
1558. Hon Dr STEVE THOMAS to the minister representing the
Minister for Transport:
It feels like a Thursday!
I refer to the Abernethy Road
stockpile of PFAS-contaminated spoil extracted from the Forrestfield–Airport
Link, which I first asked the government about in October 2017, followed by a plethora
of subsequent questions, and now, as at 26 November 2024, I ask the following.
(1) What is the current volume of spoil extracted from
the FAL project and stockpiled at 777 Abernethy Road, Forrestfield?
(2) What volume
of stockpiled spoil has been utilised on the ''on hold'' Great
Eastern Highway project?
(3) How long can
the government store FAL spoil on temporary sites before it is considered a waste?
(4) Excluding the
spoil utilised on the ''on hold'' Great Eastern Highway project,
what infrastructure projects across Perth have been, in the governments words, ''beneficial
recipients'' of the Abernethy Road spoil stockpile since October 2022?
(5) What volumes
of Abernethy Road spoil have been utilised on each of those infrastructure
projects and in what manner?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. It is not even a Thursday! There is a fair bit of
muckraking going on—perhaps you wanted to drain the swamp!

450 000 cubic metres of spoil is stockpiled at the Abernethy Road site and
approximately 150 000 cubic metres of spoil has been used.
