I refer to the Fracking Implementation Committee, and ask: (a) who are the members of the committee; (b) has the committee met: (i) if yes to (b), how many times has the committee met; and (ii) if no to (b), when will the committee meet; (c) have any recommendations been made by the committee; (d) what is the timeframe for the determination of the Dampier Peninsula frack free area; (e) what is the committee’s consultation timeframe; (f) has the committee consulted industry: (i) if no to (f), when will this consultation occur; (g) has the committee consulted the community: (i) if no to (g), when will this consultation occur; (h) is there an opportunity for public input into the implementation committee’s

(a) The Senior Officials Steering Group (SOSG) membership consists of officials from the Departments of the Premier and Cabinet; Water and Environmental Regulation; Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety; Health; Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions; Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation; Planning, Lands and Heritage; and Treasury.

(f) Member departments have undertaken any discussions with stakeholders to date on behalf of the committee. This has included industry and non-industry stakeholders.

(h) A range of consultation methods are anticipated to be used throughout the stakeholder consultation process where required, including:
Where appropriate, exposure drafts in the form of discussion papers, draft guidance material, codes of practice and other relevant proposals will be released on the Implementation Plan website for public comment.
(i) – (k) The Implementation Plan sets out the timeframe for implementing the right of consent for traditional owners as December 2020. I am advised that the SOSG is on track with delivering this outcomes in this timeframe.
(l) The Minister for Mines and Petroleum is responsible for the amendments, which will grant a right for consent or refusal.
