I refer to the undergrounding of power and replacement of power poles along Walcott Street, and ask -
(1) Was any consideration given to installing black streetlight poles rather than the now installed galvanised iron poles in order to match the poles of the adjoining Heritage Protection Area and the eastern end of Walcott Street?
(2) If no to (1), why not?
(3) What cost differential exists for galvanised iron streetlight poles compared with poles with a black coating?
(4) Will streetlight poles to be installed in the adjoining Coolbinia Area as part of Stage Five of the State Underground Power Program in galvanised iron or will they be installed with a black coating?
(5) Has the Minister received any representations from the Member for Mount Lawley regarding the colour of street light poles in the Mount Lawley electorate?

(1) No, powder-coated streetlight poles are not funded by Western Power.
(2) Non-standard Western Power streetlights (such as the black powder-coated poles) were not considered for the Walcott Street project due to their cost, which is significantly higher than the cost of standard galvanised poles.
(3) The use of powder-coated poles in Walcott Street would cost the project an extra $21,000, compared to the cost of using Western Power standard galvanised poles.
(4) The City of Stirling will decide on the type of poles to be used (galvanised or powder-coated) and their colour during the design phase of the Coolbinia Project. If powder coated poles are selected, the City of Stirling will pay the associated additional cost.
(5) I am not aware of having received any representations from the Member for Mount Lawley regarding the colour of streetlight poles in the Mount Lawley electorate.
