UNIVERSITY STUDENT HOUSING — NATIONAL
RENTAL AFFORDABILITY SCHEME
179. Mr F.M. LOGAN to the
Minister for Housing:
I have a supplementary question. Given what the minister has
just told the house, will he now freeze funding, particularly the Western
Australian government subsidy funding per unit, until the university and its
colleges make a commitment in writing that they will ensure that the
accommodation is rented to those it was meant for?

This is a joint commonwealth–state government
program; 25 per cent comes from the state and 75 per cent from the
commonwealth. We are working closely with each other and will be following this
through. Indeed, I am concerned about it —
Mr F.M. Logan interjected.

for all universities.
