COSSACK TOWN SITE —
SALE
1265. Hon MICHAEL MISCHIN to the minister representing the
Minister for Lands:
I refer to the media release of 21
October 2020 calling for registrations of interest for development of the town
of Cossack and to media reports that it is for ''sale or rent''
and that the preferred proponent will be required to ''negotiate either
a freehold sale or a lease over crown land''.
(1) Why has the
government allowed only until 20 November 2020 for registrations of interest
for such a significant undertaking?
(2) Since March
2017, has the government received any expressions of interest to develop the
town site in the manner suggested; and, if so, when, how many and from whom?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) The registrations of interest process is open for
a four-week period, which will allow interest and proposals to be
submitted, with opportunities for subsequent negotiations with one or more
proponents.
(2) There were no
known formal registrations of interest in the site between 2017 and the recent
registrations of interest campaign.
