I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) The answer to
part (3)(c)(iv) of Legislative Council question on notice 4026, as recorded,
states ''Up to 3 years.'' That response pertained to one complex
investigation rather than an average. WorkSafe's legislation does not
provide for reporting to the Office of the State Coroner; however, WorkSafe
works cooperatively with the Office of the State Coroner pursuant to a formal
agreement between the WorkSafe Western Australia Commissioner and the State
Coroner. The timing of any liaison with the Office of the State Coroner is
affected variously by the complexity of the matter and issues being
investigated.
(2) Not applicable.
(3) WorkSafe is
currently liaising with the Office of the State Coroner with regard to three
fatalities at this time.
(4) There are no formal requests for
evidence currently outstanding.
