The Western Australian Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drug Services Plan 2015-2025: Better Choices Better Lives, includes a commitment to develop and commission a police mental health co-response service by the end of 2017 but it does not specify a location for the service.
The current program is a pilot only and operates in a limited area within both the north metropolitan and south metropolitan areas.
Consideration will be given to expanding the program beyond the south east and north west metropolitan districts following the outcome of the evaluation due at the end of the two year trial.
