FIREARMS ACT — REFORM — CONSULTATION
1515. Hon COLIN de GRUSSA to the minister representing the
Minister for Police:
I refer to the minister's
response to my question without notice 1483 regarding the research used by the
state government to correlate public safety and a reduction in crime to the
number of firearms held by licence holders.
(1) Can the
minister please detail the specific recommendation within the Law Reform Commission
of Western Australia's report of
October 2016, Review of the Firearms Act 1973 (WA) , which relates to
placing a cap on the number of firearms held by licence holders?
(2) Can the minister detail the
research within the report on which that recommendation is based?
(3) Can the
minister table any subsequent or additional research that the government has
relied on in respect to its proposal to cap the number of firearms held by
licence holders?
