PRISONS — STRIP SEARCHES — VISITORS AND STAFF
Some notice has been given of the question. For each Western Australian prison — (1) How many strip searches were performed on visitors for the following years — (a) 2009–10; (b) 2010–11; and (c) 2011–12 to date? (2) For the above dates and prisons, how many Corrective Services staff were searched? (3) Were all searches listed in (1) and (2) performed according to the guidelines in the Western Australian Prisons Act 1981? (2) In 2009–10, one; 2010–11, nil; 2011–12 to date, one. (3) Yes; all complaints in regard to strip searches are thoroughly investigated. No complaint from 2009–10 to date has been substantiated. (4) In 2009–10, five; 2010–11, two; and 2011–12 to date, three.
