LOCAL GOVERNMENT - VOTING SYSTEM
(1) Has the minister received notification from any local governments in Western Australia that they have passed a motion of no confidence in him as a minister over his attempts to change the voting system for local government elections? (2) If so, how many no-confidence motions against the minister have been passed by local governments in Western Australia? (3) How many no-confidence motions must local governments in Western Australia pass before the minister will consider changing his mind? Hon JON FORD

(1)-(2) I have received notification from my department that, to date, there have been 42 meetings of local governments that have either rejected the request by the Western Australian Local Government Association to pass a vote of no confidence or not dealt with it, and 17 have accepted WALGA’s invitation to - Hon Simon O’Brien : Invitation to what? Hon JON FORD : Invitation to put a vote of no confidence in me. (3) I actually believe that I retain the confidence of local government.
