I refer to the proposal for voluntary separation payments for up to 313 FTE staff within WA Health following the closure of Swan District Hospital, and ask: (a) why are affected Swan District Hospital staff being paid separation payments and not being transferred to the new Midland Public Hospital; (b) how many staff have currently received one of the voluntary separation payments; and (c) what is the current total cost of all such voluntary separation payments?

(a) Staff members, formerly employed at Swan District Hospital, were not required to accept or apply for positions at St John of God Midland Public Hospital (SJGMPH).
Staff unsuccessful in securing positions at SJGMPH, or who preferred to remain employed within the public sector, are being managed according to the obligations of Public Sector Management (Redeployment and Redundancy) Regulations 2014 .
(b) 32 staff have received voluntary separation payments.
(c) The total cost, as at 17 February 2016, is $2,641,392.
