(2) In April 2004 the Western Australian Tourism Commission announced a restructure of its marketing division. A specialised trade marketing team was to be based in Perth with Trade Marketing Managers who would service the South-East Asia and Japan markets with regular visits and provide WA's tourism industry with feedback on product needs and market requirements. This subsequently made the position of Market Development Manager Japan redundant. Mr Takata ceased working in the position on 30 July 2004. (3) Following the announcement of the marketing restructure, travel and tourism industry members in WA and Japan questioned whether the proposed model would work effectively in a market such as Japan. Further evaluation was undertaken and in September 2004 it was decided an in-market representative was needed and the new position of Trade Marketing Manager Japan was advertised. The successful applicant commenced in the position on 4 January 2005. (4) Pay scale Yen13,428,704 per annum to Yen14,920,783 per annum (gross).
