The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) advises:
On 11 May 2016 the Minister for Emergency Services second read the Firefighters and Emergency Volunteers Legislation Amendment (Compensation) Bill 2016.
This bill is designed to equalise insurance coverage for emergency services volunteers acting under the Fire and Emergency Services Act 1998, the Bush Fires Act 1954 or the Fire Brigades Act 1942.
