I refer to the Government’s recent announcement to relocate the Department of Parks and Wildlife headquarters to Koombana Drive, Bunbury, and I ask: (a) have the Trustees of the Western Australian Museum consented, pursuant to section 8(1) of the Maritime Archaeological Act 1973 , to the development of the Department of Parks and Wildlife headquarters on lots 881 and 882 Koombana Drive, Bunbury; (b) if yes to (a): (i) when was consent granted; (ii) on what portion of the lots is development permitted; (iii) what conditions have been imposed; (iv) is the development of a building permitted over the top of the shipwrecks and artefacts; and (v) is the development of a carpark permitted over the top of the shipwrecks and artefacts; (c) if no to (a), has the Trustees of the Western Australian Museum received an application consent to development on lots 881 and 882 Koombana Drive, Bunbury; and (d) what is the process for the Trustees of the Western Australian Museum to consider an application for development in a maritime archaeological site and how long does the process take?

No such recommendation has been forthcoming, because to date, the Committee believes that the Development Exclusion Zone established with the City of Bunbury will afford more than adequate protection.
