The Minister Replied:
The Attorney General has supplied the following answer:
A detailed list of the costs awarded is not available. Magistrates have an independent discretion when a defence is successful to make an award of costs pursuant to the Official Prosecutions (Defendants' Costs) Act 1973. In this matter, defence counsel asked for, and after consideration by the magistrate, was awarded costs in the sum of $36,085.
