QuestionView source ↗

As members heard today, five health boards have been abolished in the south west and Michael Moodie has been appointed regional chief executive officer for the south west health region. (1) Will the Government guarantee keeping all general health managers from the Vasse-Leeuwin, Warren-Blackwood, Harvey-Wellington and Donnybrook-Collie health regions? (2) Will the management structure change within these areas in any way; and, if so, how? Hon LJILJANNA RAVLICH

I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1) The Government has signalled its intent to abolish five hospital boards in the south west. The formal abolition will occur over the coming weeks. Michael Moodie will take up the position of chief executive officer to establish the south west area health service. The Government has a policy of no forced redundancies and would welcome a decision by the existing general managers to stay on to assist with establishing the new area health service arrangements. (2) It is too early to speculate on what the new management structures are likely to be in the south west. However, I assure the member that any structure will be focused on delivering the highest possible standard of health care to the people of the south west.
