HOSPITAL
1377. Hon STEPHEN DAWSON to the
Minister for Mental Health:
I refer to the 24 beds closed at Graylands Hospital's
Plaistowe ward following the clinical restructure in 2013 that were to be
transferred to the Hospital in the Home program.
(1) Can the
minister advise, 12 months on, how many of these 24 Hospital in the Home beds
are currently operational?
(2) Will the minister provide an update on the government's
promise to redevelop Graylands?
(3) How many
beds are in each of the remaining wards at Graylands; and are all beds in each
ward currently in use?
(4) How many
alleged sexual assaults at Graylands Hospital have been reported to the Chief
Psychiatrist from 1 July 2014 to date?

I thank the member for some notice
of this question.
(1) All 24 Hospital in the Home beds
are operational.
(2) The 10-year
mental health, alcohol and other drugs services plan 2015–2025, which
is being released for public consultation tomorrow, provides a full update on
the government's intentions for the future of Graylands Hospital. I
hope the member will be attending the launch, because I know he has been
invited.
(3) There are 144
Graylands Hospital beds, comprising 10 in Casson ward, 14 in Ellis ward, 15 in
Montgomery ward, six in Pinch ward, 21 in Murchison west ward, 21 in Murchison
east ward, 18 in Dorrington ward, 15 in Smith ward and 24 in Hutchison ward.
All beds are currently in use.
(4) There have been six.
