Some notice has been given of this question but I recognise that it was a considerable time ago. However, I am sure the minister will know the answer. (1) Have the Mia Mia apartments been demolished; and, if so, when? (2) If not - (a) when will they be demolished; (b) if there is no definite date, what must occur before it will be rescheduled; and (c) how will the minister make this clear to the residents of Balga? Hon TOM STEPHENS

I retained the question of which notice was given on 28 August. The answer was provided to me on that date in the following form - (1) Part demolition has occurred and at 28 August a total of 41 units had been demolished out of a total of 137 dwellings. (2) (a)-(b) The balance of the units will be demolished at the convenience of the Department of Housing and Works and when the tenants have been relocated. (c) I attended a meeting of the Balga Action Group and gave it an assurance that demolition would proceed in an orderly fashion. Residents have been informed through that group and at public meetings. Progress will continue with that program. I will get another update on the matter, having discussed the matter half an hour ago with the City of Stirling.
