I refer to the Western Australian Government Corporate Credit Card Guidelines September 2003, Page 9 ‘Care should be taken to record and retain all transaction details, particularly unusual transactions such as restaurant bills’, and ask -
(1) In view of the guidelines, why has no action been taken for the automated extraction of expenditure on specific items such as ‘restaurant bills’ from credit card transactions?
(2) How can such transactions be accountable and transparent if there are no such facilities for simple extraction?
(3) Have any inquiries been carried out as to the process and cost involved in providing for such ‘automated extraction?’
(4) If no to (3), why not?
(5) Does the Minister believe that the people of Western Australia are not entitled to such information?

(1-5) The Western Australian Government Corporate Credit Card Guidelines are issued by the Department of Treasury and Finance, which is responsible to the Treasurer. Therefore, the Member should direct this question to the Treasurer.
