FORRESTFIELD–AIRPORT
LINK — WORKPLACE SAFETY
53. Dr M.D. NAHAN to the Minister for Transport:
I
refer to the Metronet Forrestfield–Airport Link. Will the minister
outline to the house the safety issues currently plaguing this project, and
whether it is appropriate that a scrap of paper is sufficient to protect
workers from serious injury?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the Leader of the Opposition
for that question.
I understand that incident occurred
a while ago—that scrap of paper. I have outlined to this house and the
media on a number of occasions that we have increased the surveillance of
safety on the site by increasing the number of surveillance officers. There has
been a higher and very significant engagement with WorkSafe, and we continually
press that safety is our number one priority. The paper the Leader of the
Opposition referred to in the question happened a while ago, and we have
increased our safety measures since then.
