MIGRATION
978. Dr M.D. NAHAN to the Treasurer:
Yesterday the Premier refused to outline
to this house the migration policy or position he will take to the Council of
Australian Governments in December when the leaders talk about population. Can
the Treasurer confirm that page 19 of budget paper No 3 of his last budget
assumes that Western Australia will have an additional net 190 000 overseas
migrants to the state over the next four years, and that this is the policy the
Premier will advocate in COAG in December?

I can confirm that it appears that
the Leader of the Opposition has finally read a budget paper! The budget paper
is predicated on population growth, expense growth and a range of assumptions.
What the Premier says at COAG in December, the Premier will say at COAG in December.
