REGIONAL PENSIONER TRAVEL CARD — ELECTRIC VEHICLES
1498. Hon LOUISE KINGSTON to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Minister for Regional Development:
I refer to the Regional Pensioner
Travel Card, which provides eligible pensioners with up to $675 a year towards
the cost of fuel and/or taxi travel from participating providers. With the
increase in the number of electric vehicles in
our community, what steps are being taken to provide alternative financial
support to owners of electric vehicles— for example, a credit on
their power bill?

I thank the
member for some notice of the question.
The Regional Pensioner Travel Card
was established to support the cost of fuel or taxi travel. There are no plans
to expand it to an electricity rebate. The Cook Labor government is providing a
separate electricity credit as part of its 2024–25 cost-of-living
budget measures.
