BLACK SPOT FUNDING - BICYCLE SAFETY PROJECTS
What proportion of the state and federal black spot funding programs were allocated to bicycle safety projects in the last round of black spot funding? Hon ADELE FARINA

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the member for some notice of this question. In 2006-07 approximately 5.5 per cent of the state’s black spot funding was allocated to bicycle safety projects, and eight per cent is proposed for the purpose in the draft 2007-08 state black spot program. There are no allocations in the national black spot program for bicycle safety projects in either 2006-07 or 2007-08. The state Labor government has made a commitment to cycling in Western Australia, and has spent almost $80 million on cycling infrastructure across the state since it came to government in 2001.
