I refer to the Minister’s media statement on 11 December 2022 titled $"60 million boost for McGowan Government's social housing program" announcing a further $60.1 million boost from the Social Housing Investment Fund and the intention to acquire about 270 properties across WA this financial year, and I ask: (a) for the 2022/23 financial year referred to in the statement in which the additional $60.1 million was allocated to the Spot Purchasing Program, how many properties were: (i) contracted for purchase; (ii) settled; and (iii) tenanted for use as social housing; (b) of the 'about 270 properties' expected to be acquired, how many were acquired by the end of that financial year; (c) if the acquisition target was not met, what were the reasons; and (d) for all properties acquired under the Spot Purchasing Program in the financial year referred to in the statement: (i) how many properties were acquired in: (A) the Perth metropolitan area; and (B) regional Western Australia; and (ii) How many properties have been acquired by spot purchase in the following financial years: (A) 2020/2021? (B) 2021/2022? (C) 2022/2023? (D) 2023/2024? (E) 2024/2025?

I thank the Member for some notice of the question.
Spot purchasing is just one method the State Government is using to accelerate social housing delivery. The Department of Housing and Works are constantly assessing properties that may be suitable for spot purchase.
Spot purchasing is not always possible in some regions of Western Australia where there is a lack of suitable housing stock or an inadequately functioning property market.
