With regard to the Office of the Contaminated Sites Committee, I ask: (a) how many companies or individuals reported known or suspected contaminated sites in 2012–2013 and in the first half of 2013–2014; (b) how many companies or individuals have been fined for failure to report a contaminated site within the requisite time periods in the last five years; and (c) who were they, where were the sites and what was the penalty in each case?

This question relates to activities undertaken by the Department of Environment Regulation (DER) and not the activities of the Contaminated Sites Committee.
DER provides the following information:
(a) A total of 171 sites were reported in 2012-13. There were 90 sites reported in the first half of 2013-14.
(b) No companies or individuals were fined for failure to report a contaminated site within the requisite time periods in the last five years.
(c) Not applicable
