I
thank the Leader of the Opposition for some notice of the question. The
Department of Justice advises the following .
(1) Between 1 January
and 11 September 2024, a total of 608 distinct young people were detained in a youth
detention facility. Of those, 606 were detained at Banksia Hill, and 37 at unit
18. The sum of those figures exceeds the total detained, as some spent time at
both facilities.
(2) T he answer to this question is in tabular form and
I seek leave to have the response incorporated into Hansard .
