AQUACULTURE BILL 151. Hon JON FORD to the Minister for Fisheries: (1) Will the minister please advise whether he has reviewed the Aquaculture Bill Taskforce report? (2) Does the minister support the introduction of an aquaculture bill? (3) If yes to (2), when is that bill likely to be introduced into the Parliament? Hon NORMAN MOORE

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the member for the question. (1)-(3) No, I have not seen it. Indeed, when I asked whether anybody knew where it was, they did not know. That is what I have found in respect of a number of reports that have been done in the past. Hon Jon Ford might know where they are and perhaps he might tell me in due course. I am considering whether there is a need for an aquaculture bill and legislation for covering that section of the fishing industry. I have not made a decision yet. When I do make a decision, of course it will be introduced into the Parliament.
