I refer to page 56 of the 2017 Annual Report for the Department of Agriculture and Food WA which states the Department is building on their animal welfare compliance team and I ask the Minister: (a) How is the Department doing this; (b) What is the intended structure of the team; and (c) What are the projected staff numbers for this team including how many FTEs?

(a) Additional funding was provided for five inspectors.  This funding is ongoing in the budget estimates. Recruitment was carried out in 2017 to fill five positions.
(b) and (c)   The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development is  undergoing a restructure following the amalgamation of the former Departments of Agriculture and Food, Fisheries, and Regional Development. It is not possible at this time to advise on the final structure and numbers of the animal welfare compliance team.
