GINGIN TOWN PLANNING SCHEME 9 147. Ms S.E. WALKER to the Minister for Planning and Infrastructure: Recently, I asked whether the minister had deliberately put herself at arm’s length from the Lombardo Millbank on Moore matter and her response was - I must confess that I have about a week’s holiday a year. I know that it is probably excessive and that I should be on the job 52 weeks a year. However, I had a week off and Minister McRae acted in my place. (1) Why did the minister give this Parliament the impression that this matter was handled only once, in one week, when the evidence of the member for Riverton at the Corruption and Crime Commission shows that he had control of the file for a two-month period, between 8 and 9 August 2006, when he made his first decision, until he reversed the decision on 9 October when the minister again took leave? (2) Did the member for Riverton tell the minister, when he was no longer minister assisting, that on 29 August 2006 he had received a letter from David Lombardo or his representative asking for a reversal of a decision that the minister recommended to him on 9 August 2006? Ms A.J.G. MacTIERNAN

(1)-(2) On one occasion on which the then minister assisting was indeed acting Minister for Planning and Infrastructure, I think I may have been on an important fact-finding mission overseas. On another occasion I think I was on leave. However, I am more than happy to clarify for the member the particular dates on which I was absent. On both of those occasions, the initial decision that was made on town planning scheme 9 of the Shire of Gingin and the subsequent decision made by the then acting minister were made while I was not on duty.
