With regard to the proposed WMC Nickel project at Yakabindie, I ask
(1) Does the Minister acknowledge the Ngalia people as the Traditional custodians of the land on which the Yakabindie mineral deposit is situated?
(2) If yes to (1), does the Minister recognise the Ngalia Heritage Research Council as the legitimate representative body of the Ngalia people?
(3) If no to (1), on what basis does the Minister refute this claim?

(1) - (3) As this matter is currently before the Federal Minister for the Environment and Heritage under sections 9 and 10 of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Heritage Protection Act 1984, the Minister is not prepared to comment on it at this time.
