As I said, the Treasurer will report
on that.
Several members interjected.
Mr
C.J. BARNETT : Is it not nice to have a Liberal–National government
that backs Western Australia on road funding, education funding and fixing up
the fines issue? How many weeks has the Liberal government been in power?
Several members interjected.
The
SPEAKER : Member for Victoria Park, I do not want to hear you shouting
across the chamber.
Mr
C.J. BARNETT : The Abbott government has been there for only a couple of
months, but it has already made commitments on road funding, given assistance
on the fines issue and GST and increased education funding—so far, so
good.
Several members interjected.
Mr
C.J. BARNETT : Members opposite are wrong on most things. They need to do
more research than listen to the ABC.
The
SPEAKER : Member for Cannington, I call you to order for the first time.
Mr
C.J. BARNETT : Along with all the other issues and the kites being flown by
members opposite, this is a good result for Western Australia. Members opposite
must hate this state government. They must hate it when we get a good result.
How angry they are. How ineffective and unresponsive were the Rudd and Gillard
Labor governments? The Abbott government has been in power for only a couple of
months and at least we have had a positive response on one part of the GST
issue. There is a long way to go, but at least we got something in the first
couple of months that we did not get from six years of Rudd and Gillard.
Several members interjected.
The
SPEAKER : Member for Victoria Park, I formally call you to order for the
first time today. Member for Willagee, if you want to join him, I will oblige.
