I refer to the Department of the Premier and Cabinet's 2016-2017 Annual Report and ask: (a) why of the 54 mobile phones returned by the previous government, why were only 27 reissued to new Ministerial staff; and (b) why of the 33 iPads returned by the previous government, why were only 11 reissued to new Ministerial staff?

(a)-(b) The information in the Annual Report reflected workload indicators a week after the change of Government and should have been updated as at 30 June for the Annual Report.
As such, most of the mobile phones returned by the previous government were re-issued to new Ministerial staff. (Note: the only time a device is not re-issued is if its operating software (iOS for Apple) does not allow for the latest security updates to be applied or if the device is returned damaged).
The statistics as at 30 June were:
132 mobile phones returned.
108 mobile phones issued.
The statistics as at 30 June were:
73 iPads returned.
37 iPads issued.
Fewer staff in Ministerial offices in this Government use mobile phones and iPads.
