CORONAVIRUS —
mRNA VACCINE
1414. Hon BEN DAWKINS to the parliamentary secretary
representing the Minister for Health:
I
refer to the confirmation from the Therapeutic Goods Administration that the
mRNA vaccine products used in Australia contain residual DNA; to the
growing global evidence that residual DNA and lipid nanoparticle formulations
may be potentially dangerous, and particularly to the work of Dr Angus
Dalgleish, Dr Paul Marik, Dr David Speicher and Professor Robert Clancy, and
many others; and to the recent motion passed by the Port Hedland council.
(1) Does the
Minister for Health acknowledge the concerns of many Western Australians that
valid questions still need to be answered around the issue of mRNA vaccine
safety?
(2) Will the
minister call for an immediate pause in the use of these vaccines in Western Australia
until further research is conducted?
(3) Which
laboratories in WA to which the health department has access or oversight can
test tumours for the presence of spiked protein, SV40 enhancer and promoter and
plasmid integration of residual DNA?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The following answer has been provided by the
Minister for Health.
(1)–(2) T he Department of Health continues to follow the
advice provided by the Therapeutic Goods Administration and the
Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation in relation to vaccines.
(3) Testing for the presence of spiked protein and
plasmid integration of residual DNA is not routinely available at
PathWest or, to the Department of Health's knowledge, other
laboratories in Western Australia. Testing for SV40 enhancer and promoter is
available at PathWest via the immunohistochemistry testing.
