Department of Communities—Proposed development—Warwick
153. Hon Tjorn Sibma to the Leader of the House
representing the Minister for Housing and Works:
I refer to the Department
of Communities' proposed development in Farne Close, Warwick.
(1) Is the minister aware that this proposal is
contrary to the City of Joondalup's housing opportunity areas local planning
policy (HOALPP), which sets a two-storey height limit?
(2) Is the minister aware that this three-storey
development, although adjacent to the Warwick train centre car park, is in a
small residential cul-de-sac and is surrounded by predominantly low-lying
homes?
(3) Is there any reason why the proposed
development cannot be amended so as to comply with the HOALPP and meet the
reasonable view of the community that the project be consistent with the established
neighbourhood character of Farne Close?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1)–(3) As the honourable member has
referred to, this proposal is adjacent to the Warwick train station. The
development application relates to a public work and the height is consistent
with the state planning framework.
