The Minister for Child Protection has provided the following response
(a) Departmental records indicate that more than 50 visits were made to the Cullacabardee Aboriginal Community in the last 12 months. These visits were to a number of families/houses in the community. To provide a specific list would require a detailed manual file search.
(b) Reasons included:
- assessments of concerns about children's school attendance,safety, health matters, neglect, family violence, feuding, drug use, transience, housing issues, criminal behaviour -
- case management and monitoring -
- community meetings, programs, events -
- discussion of Aboriginal men's issues -
- transportation assistance, eg to appointments, meetings
- funerals -
(c) 50+ telephone calls were made.
(d) Reasons outlined under (b) above including court matters, program funding issues, youth activities.
