ALCOHOL —
COMMUNITY SUMMIT
286. Mr M. McGOWAN to the Premier:
I have a supplementary question. Rather than write to the
Premier, I am asking him directly in the Parliament today: does he actually not
think it is a good idea to pool community groups, business and interested
parties such as the Commissioner of Police, plus the Premier and the
opposition, to debate these issues and come up with solutions to what is a
terrible problem in our community?

AnswerView source ↗

I do not think it is a bad idea, but the Leader of the
Opposition has not given me any advice on that. I suggest the Leader of the
Opposition write to me. The minister with responsibility for this has just made
the point —
Ms M.M. Quirk interjected.
The SPEAKER :
Member for Girrawheen, I call you to order for the second time.
Mr C.J. BARNETT :
As the Minister for Police has just interjected, there is an alcohol licensing
review underway at present. I welcome views from right across the community,
including those of the opposition, but if the Leader of the Opposition is
serious about that, I suggest he write to me about it and we will look at it.
