(1) I am advised that the construction of the Tom Bateman wetland, which is a City of Gosnells asset, was through an alliance with the Roe Highway Consortium. The consortium required clean fill for construction of the Roe Highway so they agreed to remove fill and create the wetland. On this basis, it was an in-kind exchange of goods and services.
(2) Yes
(3) I am advised that the City of Gosnells has an annual maintenance budget of $28,000. The Swan River Trust is providing $18,181 in 2012 to the Banister Creek Catchment Group for weed control at the site.
(4) The City of Gosnells monitors nutrient levels and speciation at the inlet and outlet of the Tom Bateman Wetland, however the validity of the sampling process can not be guaranteed. The Swan River Trust through the South East Centre for Urban Landcare (SERCUL) recently commenced a sampling and monitoring program in the Bannister Creek Catchment which includes the inlet and outlet at Tom Batmen Wetland to monitor nutrients and speciation.
(5) Refer to answer (4).
(6) (a) City of Gosnells has undertaken monitoring annually since 2003. The Swan River Trust and SERCUL program is for only one year and sites will be sampled on three occasions.
(b) See table below for data collected by the City of Gosnells, noting the validity of the sampling process and therefore the data cannot be guaranteed. The Swan River Trust and SERCUL program has just commenced and there is no data to table at this time.
