I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The following response has been provided by the
Minister for Lands.
(1)–(4) As
has been previously publicly advised, the Wittenoom Steering Committee met on
30 August 2023 and a follow-up meeting was due to be scheduled for early 2024.
The state government remains committed to working with the Banjima people and
respectfully acknowledges their recent bereavement. Works to demolish
above-ground structures within the Wittenoom asbestos-contaminated area have
concluded. All roads into the former town site and nearby gorge are permanently
closed, and it is not safe to visit.
