I refer to the months of March and April 2023 respectively, and I ask: (a) will the Minister please provide the following information on distinct young people held at Banksia Hill Detention Centre and Unit 18: (i) age; (ii) gender; (iii) Aboriginality; and (iv) sentenced or unsentenced?

The following should be noted regarding the figures provided below:
· The total detainee population at any given time during March and April 2023 at Banksia Hill and Unit 18 fluctuated around 100.
· Data for each individual month includes a distinct count of young people by the relevant groupings. As such the aggregate of the groupings may exceed the month’s total, where a young person appears in multiple groups in the month.
· Separate months should not be aggregated as a young person can be counted in more than one month.
· If a young person spent at least one day sentenced in a reporting period (month), they are counted in the “Sentenced” category. (i.e. a young person cannot be counted in both “Sentenced” and “Unsentenced” in a month).
· The data includes young people that were not detained overnight (i.e. received and discharged in one day).
