TEACHERS -
ABORIGINAL TEACHERS WITH FULL-TIME EMPLOYMENT
716. Mr G. WOODHAMS to the Minister for Education and
Training:
I ask a supplementary question. What encouragement is given to AIEOs to
become permanent full-time teachers?

AnswerView source ↗

I think I just answered that question. A couple of months ago I announced that the
government will offer scholarships to AIEOs so that they can become primary
school teachers. That is the biggest
scholarship program for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people ever offered in
teaching. The evidence is clear: the
government is doing something significant about the issue.
