In reference to the Premier's address to the Western Australia Local Government Association's Annual General Meeting three years ago, stating that the number of Western Australian councils needed to be cut from 139 to fewer than 100, I ask:
(a) how many Local Governments are there in Western Australia today;
(b) why have significant inroads not been made into meeting this target;
(c) will the Premier list the councils to be cut or amalgamated to achieve the outcome; and
(d) will the Premier indicate the timeline for achieving the outcome?

(a-d) The Metropolitan Local Government Review draft findings report was released on 27 April 2012. The independent review panel is on track to provide its final report to the Minister for Local Government by mid-2012.
